Description: No matter how long you have been managing hazardous waste, there is always something to learn about the satellite accumulation regulations. In this class we will discuss the satellite regulations, including those unique to California. We will also identify the most common violations associated with satellite accumulation, plus interpretations and guidance from the EPA and DTSC

Objective: Review the Tiered Permitting Program (TPP) and its applicability to specific situations to improve understanding by generators and regulators.
Description: After 30 years, the TPP often remains confusing for generators and CUPAs. As a key step in WW treatment and to reduce offsite haz waste disposal, its important that generators understand the TPP requirements and limitations. Its also important for regulators to understand when onsite processing may/may not be subject to jurisdiction. Case studies and compliance requirements for generators operating under different tiers will also be reviewed.

Objective: To provide a summary of the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan requirements on facility description and diagram
Description: This session will cover the facility description and diagram requirements for SPCC Plans in accordance with 40 CFR Part 112. Discussions will include the prediction of direction, rate of flow, and total quantity of oil that could be discharged for each type of major equipment failure where experience indicates a reasonable potential for equipment failure. Examples of facility diagrams will also be discussed.

Objective: This session will provide an informative discussion on satellite accumulation regulatory requirements and recommended best management practices.
Description: This course will examine current applicable regulatory requirements surrounding satellite accumulation wastes, containers and storage areas. Participants will be given opportunities to evaluate storage areas for deficiencies and discuss appropriate recommended best management practice solutions to maintain compliance. The course will end with a review of pending GIR requirements.

Objective: How to navigate group dynamics so that rocking the boat can be considered a good thing when making effective decisions.
Description: Groupthink happens when members of a team see whats happening to them and around them through a biased, narrow lens. The result can be that conclusions are reached too quickly, and teams often make bad decisions. Participants will explore what causes it, understand common warning signs to recognize it, and learn practical strategies that can be used to prevent and overcome groupthink.

Description: This course will cover intermediate topics of the Business Plan Program.

Objective: Review & explain complex and uncommon HMBP reporting requirements and exemptions to the experienced CUPA inspector or seasoned industry representative.
Description: An intermediate training that covers HMBP exemptions, rules for reporting mixtures, amd other regulatory updates. We will test the newly acquired knowledge. This is essentially the same presentation as in 2020 with the area plan section removed.
